'Wild about Wakefield' Support Assistant

Could you help support people with disabilities to access the countryside?
Flexible hours Fri 7th Jun – Sat 11th Sep Wakefield West view map

We need volunteers to guide visually impaired adults, assist wheelchair users, pilot a tandem and help people with learning disabilities to complete nature conservation projects. This role will help a variety of people who have a disability to enjoy the health and wellbeing benefits of being in the countryside. You will enable adults with a learning, physical or sensory disability to enjoy being outdoors in a group setting. We have volunteer roles during the week, evening and on weekends so ring us to hear more about the activities and to discuss how you might like to be involved.

On weekends we sometimes go to places that have an entrance fee. We cover this cost in. We also cover transportation (all our volunteers and disabled members travel together in one minibus from Thornes Park)

As we are a small charity, we cannot cover expenses to and from Thornes Park (our base) where we meet for outings and trips. We can however offer lots of complimentary cookies and fun in return for your support!
