Wellbeing Outings Volunteer
Join us at Open Country (Charity No. 1107331) the award-winning charity and help disabled people to access the countryside. We are running a wide variety of activities in Wakefield, including hiking, wheelchair walks, nature work parties and tandem cycling. If you have a love of the outdoors and an empathy for people with disabilities, we’d love to hear from you!
We need volunteer support to assist wheelchair users, and guide those with sight impairments on our new 'Wild About Water' group. This group is aiming to promote access to blue spaces (water) for people with disabilities and will help to increase wellbeing. The Tuesday outings run from 10am - 4pm throughout the year to local blue spaces and countryside venues! We will be sampling a whole range of activities, from arts and crafts, to watersports, walks and everything in-between. The days will be relatively gentle and hopefully very enjoyable.
Volunteers will need to complete a free DBS check with us as they will be working with vulnerable adults. All training and a full induction will be provided. No previous experience needed.
Your support will help us to ensure people with physical disabilities can enjoy the countryside.
