Volunteering with RSPB
The RSPB manages a big network of nature reserves which are havens for wildlife, and importantly very special places for people of all ages and abilities to visit and experience a nature rich landscape. As a charity we depend on volunteers to support our conservation work.
In the Aire Valley we have two reserves at St Aidan's and Fairburn Ings and we have many different opportunities and roles for people wishing to volunteer their time supporting nature and conservation, from helping in our café or Visitor centres, welcoming visitors to our reserves to practical hands on roles.
Please get in touch if you would like to discuss possible volunteering with us or visit Volunteering Opportunities | RSPB Volunteering where you can read more about these and apply.

You will be given all the support you need to undertake your role.We offer training to support you in your role, some of which is mandatory for all, but can be undertaken during your volunteering hours.
If you are volunteering on the reserves you will be provided with a uniform.
We can offer travel expenses to help you get to and from our sites and when you have been volunteering with us for a qualifying period, you will be eligible for discount in all RSPB shops.
Some roles may require references and if your volunteering role involves direct contact with children or vulnerable adults, you will need to have a DBS check.
