Unit Helper / Leader

As a volunteer you’ll give girls opportunities for fun, friendship, challenge and adventure!
3 hrs / week Flexible

We have a number of units seeking helpers to support them on a weekly basis across Ossett.

There are three role types of available Unit Helper, Unit Adminstrator and Leader.

  • As a Leader you will share the running of the unit or potentially lead a team of other volunteers and be responsible for delivering the Girlguiding programme.
  • As a Unit Helper you will support the Leader, but you can take on other responsibilities if you wish to try a new skill such as planning or budgeting.
  • As a Unit Administrator you will support running the unit behind the scenes such as keeping the unit records up to date.

Weekly meetings are approx. 60 - 90mins per week (term time), there may be some follow up activities outside of the weekly meetings. This will be dependent on your role and responsibilities within the unit.

Accessibility will depend on the unit venue.

You will need to complete an e-learning on Safeguarding, which will be provided by Girlguiding. Additional training is available depending on the role such as First Response.

There may be further opportunities available depending on skills and interests for example DofE, Boating, Archery and International.

Units will confirm agreed expenses examples include costs for resources etc.

With guiding girls have fun, adventure and the space to discover their potential
They go to their first ever sleepover, canoe on rivers, learn about body confidence, and lead their own camp. Or sometimes they simply have fun and try new things with friends.
