Telephone Befriender

Would you like to volunteer for Age UK Wakefield District?
1 hrs / week From Wed 28th Apr 2021

We are looking for big hearted, open minded people who are good listeners and reliable team members.

You can help to meet the needs of older people by volunteering to support the services we provide. We promote the wellbeing of older people living in the Wakefield District and aim to make later life a fulfilling and enjoyable experience.

Telephone Befrienders offer friendship and conversation by telephoning an isolated, lonely older person. Telephone Befrienders spend around one hour per week chatting with their client, providing conversation and companionship, working to build a lasting friendship. Telephone Befrienders must be aged 18 or over.

There is an element of paperwork in this role as all telephone Befrienders have to fill in and return a monthly call contact diary.

Please contact us to find out more about this role and to take the next steps to becoming a volunteer with us. We look forward to hearing from you.
