Open Country (Charity No. 1107331) the award-winning charity are looking for volunteers to help disabled people to access the countryside. They are running a wide variety of activities in Wakefield, including hiking, wheelchair walks, nature work parties and tandem cycling. If you have a love of the outdoors and an empathy for people with disabilities, we’d love to hear from you! Volunteers will need to complete a free DBS check with us as they will be working with vulnerable adults.

All training and a full induction will be provided.

Open Country run two tandem cycling clubs, every Wednesday and Thursday evening from 6-9pm. We cycle between 10-20 miles usually around the local green spaces, usually with a pub stop en route.

Tandem cycling allows many disabled people to enjoy all the benefits of cycling in a safe and fun way. No specific commitment is necessary, just as often as suits you.

No experience is necessary – just a bit of enthusiasm!
