Park Ranger Volunteer

We are looking for someone to assist our Ranger team to help improve our Country Park!
3 hrs / week Fri 12th Nov – Fri 11th Mar Airedale and Ferry Fryston view map

Join our sessions held at 10:30am every Friday. Meet at Fryston Community Building (Wheldon Road, Castleford, WF10 2QH)

Why should you volunteer?

What will you be expected to do?

  • We will do small and interesting habitat management tasks around the park for any ability - e.g. improving view spots, maintaining wildflower meadows, shrub clearance.
  • You will find out more about your local area and help improve the land for other park goers

You don’t need any past experience!

What should you bring?

  •  Packed lunch and plenty to drink
  •  Old clothes you don’t mind getting dirty
  •  Heavy duty boots or shoes
  •  Waterproofs and warm layers

Tools and gloves will be provided (as well as biscuits!)

We can cover travel expenses to and from Fryston Country Trails, be that bus fare or petrol expenses. We can also provide extra PPE if you do not have any warm clothing (hats etc.), but unfortunately we cannot provide you with footwear.

We have a small team of Park Rangers for Fryston Country Trails in Castleford, Frickley Country Park in South Elmsall Wakefield, and Rabbit Ings Country Park in Royston Barnsley. We manage these beautiful Country Parks on behalf of the Land Trust, and all three have differing habitat types.
