Overview and Scrutiny Co-opted Member

We are looking for volunteers to serve as co-opted members on our overview and scrutiny committees.

Overview and scrutiny committees aim to improve public services by:

  • Contributing to policy development and review.
  • Challenging performance and reviewing quality.
  • Reflecting the voice of local people.
  • Holding decision makers to account.

To fulfil these roles you’ll need be aged 18 or over, live or work in the Wakefield District and able to attend daytime meetings. (Wakefield Council employees are not eligible to apply).

In return, these interesting and challenging roles will give you a unique insight into local democracy and the opportunity to work with councillors. 

The term of office is until May 2027.
