Home Visit Befriender
We are looking for big hearted, open minded people who have a little time to give, to make a big difference
We are currently recruiting Home Visit Befrienders across the Wakefield District.
Volunteer Befrienders are matched with an isolated, lonely older person living in their own home, and are asked to visit once a week for around an hour, to provide conversation, companionship and friendship. At your visit you might spend time talking and listening, looking at photographs, playing board games/card games, helping to read the mail to someone with a sight impairment, cook a meal/bake together, help to build other social contacts in the community by researching local groups together.
There is a small element of paperwork involved in this role, in that we ask for you to complete a contact diary with details of your visits.
Home visit befrienders must be aged 18 or over. This role can be carried out any day of the week, mornings, afternoons or evenings.
