Friday Wild Things Volunteer

A nature study group with a difference!
Flexible hours From Fri 12th Jan 2024 Wakefield West view map

Join us at Open Country (Charity No. 1107331) the award-winning charity and help disabled people to access the countryside. We are running a wide variety of activities in Wakefield, including hiking, wheelchair walks, nature work parties and tandem cycling. If you have a love of the outdoors and an empathy for people with disabilities, we’d love to hear from you!

Our Wild Things group is a group of disabled adults who meet at Thornes Park every Friday, 10am - 4pm. We plant and grow wildflowers in our polytunnel, which are planted out around the Wakefield district in spring. We also build bird, bat and insect houses as well as take part in nature study outings, expanding our own knowledge and teaching each other. We are looking for volunteers to support this group, no experience necessary and all training is provided. Volunteers become part of a rota so you do not need to commit to every week.
