The Moving Festival is the sports and leisure part of Our Year! In celebration of Wakefield District's parks and green spaces, and to help people get out and about on their bikes more in 2024, the Wonders of Wakefield cycle route was launched, spanning 21 miles!

To help spread the word, they are hosting a mass participation bike ride from Pugneys Country Park along seven routes of the WoW of various distances.

Volunteers are needed as stewards, to help with the smooth running of the event. There will be various tasks including:

1.      Manning the entrance to the carpark – directing people to the start point of the rides

2.      Manning the area near the café to answer queries/signpost as required

3.      Manning the start point of the ride (located on the grassed area at the bottom of the carpark.

4.      Manning the area where the gazebos are located, helping members of the public & organisations with any queries

5.      Collecting rubbish/keeping the area tidy

There will also be opportunities for a small number of interested volunteers to act as back markers on any of the 7 rides providing they have the required level of experience/equipment.
