In 2025, we'll open an exciting new Library & Museum in the heart of Wakefield City Centre, featuring innovative and interactive museum galleries that tell the story of the whole Wakefield district. We want the new galleries to be community-led, full of stories and objects that matter to our local communities, so we’re embarking on a programme of community engagement to collect stories from our communities, ensuring their voices and perspectives are heard and included right from the start. We will deliver interactive and creative activities out in the community, and record the information, feedback, stories and ideas that come out of these activities.

We're looking for Community Engagement Volunteers to support museum staff with this community engagement programme. You will support staff to deliver the activities and accurately record what you hear and see, so that we have usable data to base our development plans on. You will chat to members of our local community and listen carefully to their ideas and stories, making sure everyone feels like they have had an opportunity to be involved. You will share our plans for the new museum with enthusiasm and passion.
